The official Apple documentation clearly states that they only support an upgrade to 8GB (2x 4GB), but I am running 16GB without any hassle. I needed faster RAM and storage as well as better screen resolution. Alternatively I could upgrade a legacy device, my MBP mid-2012. Earlier this year, I was considering purchasing a new laptop/MBP. I am a professional web developer, no gaming, who runs devOps environments locally on my machine daily.
